Description:
TKG is a 100% First Nation owned business with annual revenues of $12M+. TKG provides contracting and procurement & logistics solutions to Far North First Nations and to First Nation regional service and political advocacy organizations, Indigenous and non-Indigenous businesses.
TKG was established to develop First Nation owned businesses and create business solutions that will improve the socio-economic conditions in the TKG communities. Currently TKG is focused on the improvement of TKG First Nation procurement & logistics processes.
With this in mind, our growing company is looking to fill the role of Business Operations Intern. Working from our suboffice at 1093 Barton Street, Thunder Bay, Ontario, P7B 5N3, the TKG Business Operations Intern position will assist in improving processes of the business to ensure optimal productivity is reached with every department.
Reporting to the General Manager, the Business Operations Intern is responsible for assisting with internal processes with the organization to improve productivity and efficiency. Also, the Business Operations Intern will be working closely in movement, distribution, and storage of materials for Far North First Nations.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist in drafting, reviewing, and managing procurement contracts with suppliers and service providers to ensure compliance and efficiency.
- Help maintain accurate inventory records for fuel and other supplies, ensuring timely restocking and optimal stock levels.
- Assist in planning and coordinating fuel deliveries to remote First Nations communities, ensuring timely and efficient distribution.
- Create Request for Proposals (RFPs) and Request for Quotes (RFQs) for procurement needs, ensuring clarity and thoroughness.
- Communicate with First Nation communities to understand their needs and integrate processes to better serve them.
- Perform various administrative duties such as filing, data entry, and document management to support overall business operations.
- Gather and analyze data to support procurement decisions, fuel sales, and real estate projects.
Accountability:
The Business Operations Intern position is accountable to the General Manager of TKG. Performance will be evaluated through a TKG internal Training Plan designed around general and operational responsibilities.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Some knowledge of Supply Chain, Business Operations, or Procurement and Logistics is an advantage, but not necessary.
- Strong problem identification and problem resolution skills.
- Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to coordinate and organize meetings, exhibits, and events.
- Ability to attend industry events, networking functions,
- High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office software packages.
- Strong attention to detail, ability to multitask, and prioritize.
Education and Experience
- Grade 12 Diploma
- Experience working with First Nations
Conditions of Employment
- A valid Ontario Driver's License
- Criminal Record Check
- Extensive Travel Required
- Ability to lift 40 pounds
- Job Type: Full-time
- Salary: $45,000 – $50,000 per year
- Schedule: Monday to Friday - overtime as required
- Work Location: Thunder Bay
